Our Story
6 years ago, we found love in a usual setting. We met in December 2011, and at the oddest of places – a church in Mushin, Lagos. As the usual end-of-the-year practice, we had come home to spend time with family and friends. There were no crickets chirping, no birds singing, No butterflies dancing, No sparks in the air. Nothing to signify that this was anything worthy of note. Actually, there was one – a mild distaste for a proud laughing, Pastor-son looking young man. A mutual friend had introduced us to each other and in a bit, there he was, warming up to my sisters. 2 months became 4, and 6, and then 12. Still nothing. Except for regular checkups on each other.
January 2013, Temitayo asked the most damning, friend-zone breaking, love-defining question ever; “What is the future of this friendship. What is its purpose?” The one question we needed to answer eventually. The one bridge we needed to cross. The one line diving our path. We had a decision to make. “I love you, Temitayo and I want to be more than just a friend. I want to know you better and the future is marriage.” We prayed, received leadings and started dating.
The usual became rather unusual when on 3rd March 2018 Oluwayimika went on one knee in the company of some close friends and proposed. For the first time even with all the rehearsals, he was speechless. “Yes!”
It’s just a few months after the proposal and here we are starting another phase, burning all the bridges of the past and deciding to do life together – as one. US. This is us writing an unusual love story, a story of commitment, of faith.
Forever is US doing life BIG.
